Essex four-piece These New Puritans have been given the remix treatment from mysterious electronic muso SBTRKT. The London-based producer, who refuses to show his face, has conjured up a suitably eerie, bass heavy version of the Puritans' new song, 'We Want War'.
The Observer described the band's music as "a chilling, paranoid insight into a dystopian future world." Kind of right on the money we reckon.
'We Want War' is taken from the TNPS sophomore album Hidden, due January 18.
Their label, Angular Recording Corporation, say you can expect the following from the new album: "six-foot Japanese Taiko drums, a thirteen piece brass and woodwind ensemble, sub-heavy beats, prepared piano, a children’s choir, Foley recording techniques (including a melon with cream crackers attached struck by a hammer, used to simulate the sound of a human head being smashed), and the ethereal voice of Heather Marlatt from dream-pop group Salem."
